A Two Year Programme of Learning
On a tour of Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2) you will discover a happy, thriving school alive with learning. Children are given an excellent grounding in core skills interwoven into an exciting, thematic curriculum. Learning is at the centre of all that we do in Key Stage 1 and our aim is to make learning irresistible!
Key Stage 1 Curriculum
Our curriculum is rigorous, robust and built upon the very best practice from the UK. English and Mathematics are supported by highly-regarded programmes for Phonics and White Rose Maths and our exciting topics fully cover the objectives from the UK curriculum.
Our KS1 class teachers deliver the following subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, History, Computing, Geography, Art, Design and Technology (DT) and Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE).
We deliver this through an innovative and bespoke playing-to-learn approach which maximises learning in KS1 through Continuous Provision. Children are encouraged to build on the independence and critical and creative thinking skills developed in the Foundation Stage
Wherever possible we link these subjects together through engaging and exciting half-termly themes to give meaning and purpose to teaching and learning. Specialist teachers encourage the love of music, Arabic language and Emirati culture, languages and physical education.
Focus on the Whole Child
In Lower Primary, our committed teaching teams understand that every child is uniue and we pride ourselves on knowing each child well. This happens both inside the classroom and outside and is supported by a comprehensive set of pastoral care systems and procedures, many of which are pupil-led and include: Pupil Council, House Captains, Eco-Ambassadors and many more. Our teachers ensure that all children are given the opportunity to be the best they can be, and that all needs are supported. We work in close partnership with parents so that the very best outcomes for all children can be achieved.
