Nikki Upsall

Nikki is Deuty Head of Secondary. He has a wealth of senior leadership experience and works with the Head of Secondary, ensuring there are high standards of curricular teaching and learning provision within the Secondary School. As a mentor for many of the teaching staff, he is responsible for supporting the development of teaching skills, subject knowledge, and for establishing a culture of mutual observation and sharing of best practice. He is instrumental in the preparation of pupils for GCSEs at Key Stage 4, and the school preparation for sixth form teaching. Nikki is a passionate Mathematics teacher and he will continue to teach in the Secondary School.

Alpa Dabasia

Alpa is Director of Studies, and is repsonsible for supporting and advising the Heads of School and the Senior Leadership Team on whole school curriculum evaluation, staff deployment, timetable construction, and the Secondary Options process in Year  9 and Year 11. She works closely with the school’s administration and support departments in order to embed more efficient use of Management Information Systems, an essential requirement in a fast growing school. She also teaches Computing in the Secondary School and is responsible for Amity's Business Studies Department.

Jonathan Sheppard-Burgess

Jonathan is Director of Sport and Assistant Head of Secondary, leading Years 9 and 10. Jonathan has a wealth of experience gained from Europe and the UAE, where he has been integral to the leadership of school’s with outstanding, competitive sports provision. He is responsible for the strategic implementation of Amity's sports including the aquatics programme. He ensures that Amity’s unparalleled sports facilities are used to full effect, not only to promote increased participation, but also sporting excellence. He is responsible for Amity teams to compete in inter-school and international competitions. Jonathan isalso the lead teacher for Amity's GCSE PE course.

Peter Miller

Peter is Assistant Head of Secondary for Year 7 and Year 8, he is also Head of Design Technology. With over 15 years’ experience in leadership, departmental and pastoral care of students, he manages the transition for pupils to the Secondary School. Working closely with the School Counsellors and liaising with collegaues throughout Secondary, he ensures that the Secondary School is safe, calm, well-ordered and that all students demonstrate exemplary behaviour. Peter is also responsible for developing Amity’s state-of-the-art Design Technology department.

Jennifer Connell

Jennifer is Assistant Head of Secondary and Director of Scholarships, she has over 15 years’ experience teaching in outstanding independent schools in the UK and the UAE. In addition to her teaching role within the English Department, her Assistant Head role includes Director of Scholarship and Academic Enrichment, as well as the Secondary School Higher Education and Careers lead. Working with Heads of Department, the Co-Curricular team and external providers, she has a particular focus on establishing a premium provision for Amity's more able learners, growing opportunities to stretch and challenge them, both within and beyond the curriculum.She is also responsible for advising Year 9 and 10 students and parents regarding the GCSE options process and for developing Amity's Careers and Higher Education programme

Scott Walsh

Scott is Assistant Head of Co-curricular, responsible for the strategy, organisation and management of Amity's extensive co-curricular programme. The 150+ co-curricular activities that operate each week, have become an iconic strength of the education provision at Amity. Scott, liaising with colleagues throughout the school, ensures that Amity students are participating and meeting their co-curricular targets, encouraging physical, creative and academic ambition. A keen sportsman, he will also continue in his role as a member of the expanded PE department.

Lynne Thompson

Lynne is Executive Deputy Head of Primary. Lynne has worked both internationally and in the UK, and brings with her over 25 years of experience in Primary education. She is a highly qualified specialist in Inclusion and a qualified teacher of pupils with dyslexia. In addition to her responsibility for the academic provision within Primary, Lynne leads on all inclusion and pastoral aspects including acting as a Child Protection Officer. She deputises for Jo when Jo is off site.

Bobby O'Connor

Bobby is Deputy Head of the Primary School. Bobby brings a wealth of skills and knowledge that enable him to play a pivotal role in the development of the school. With a Masters in Educational Leadership and Management, he is responsible for all Primary assessment and data, critical for continuous improvements in teaching and learning. He oversees all Primary operational matters including health and safety, communications and events.

Melissa Day

Melissa is Assistant Head of Primary. Whilst teaching in England, she was rated as an ‘Outstanding’ teacher by OFSTED, now in the UAE, she continues to lend her expert knowledge of new initiatives and great insight into the British Curriculum to Amity. As Assistant Head, Melissa is responsible for ensuring the quality of Teaching and Learning across Years 4 to 6 exceeds UK benchmarks. She also supports the transition process from Year 6 to Year 7 when our students join the Secondary School.

 

Donna Walsh

Donna is Assistant Head of Primary and comes from an outstanding school in the UK. Donna has been responsible for initiating the ‘Depth of Learning’ Student Progress Tracker across Primary. This initiative has played a significant part in raising standards and enabling teachers to extract and use data to monitor student progress and identify and close gaps in learning. Donna is responsible for the delivery of a rich and broad curriculum and for ensuring the quality of Teaching and Learning across Years 1 to 3 exceeds UK benchmarks.

 

Siobhan Pearce

Siobhan is Head of Inclusion and brings a wealth of experience gained from the UK and UAE. She is accountable for the leadership and management of the inclusion provision throughout the Primary school. She is committed to ensuring that the school is an inclusive learning community and the safeguarding and the welfare of all children is of the utmost priority.

Sophie Crosby

Sophie is Deputy Head of Foundation Stage, she is accountable for the leadership and management, as well as being responsible for ensuring that all teaching and learning reflects the most up-to-date, best practice in Early Years pedagogy. Sophie is a qualified SENCO and coordinates support and oversees the provision for children in Nursery and Reception who have additional learning needs. In addition to leading on inclusion, Sophie is responsible for the pastoral care of the children in the Foundation Stage as the designated Child Protection Officer. She also deputises for Julie when Julie is off site.

Ellen Smith

Ellen is Assistant Head of Foundation Stage. Ellen is accountable for the curriculum standards in teaching and learning across the Foundation Stage and supports teaching teams in both Nursery and Reception to ensure the best possible learning outcomes for all children. She is responsible for the day-to day management of Nursery and Reception, and is actively involved in driving the continuous development of learning environments, which are critical in supporting children’s early learning, development and sense of well-being.
