What is all-round learning?

To prepare students for an ever-changing, fast-paced world, it’s important to encourage growth in all aspects of their lives. That’s why at Amity International School, we provide an all-round education that allows students to excel intellectually, academically and socially, both inside and outside of the classroom.

Opportunities within our school include music and dance, performing and fine arts, sports and watersports.

Field trips are beneficial

Students can benefit immensely from taking part in trips away from the school campus. Abu Dhabi’s extensive resources provide countless opportunities for students to learn outside of the classroom.

A few of our fun, educational excursions:

  • Emirates Zoo to help children understand the importance of looking after animals and what it means to have endangered species.
  • The Louvre Abu Dhabi to teach children about great artists and architects in history.
  • Shangri La chocolate experience: Children will learn about the origins of chocolate and how to make it.
  • Tee & Putt Mini GolfGlow: Students are taught teamwork, hand-eye co-ordination, patience and explore science.
  • YAS Marina Circuit: Children will learn about aerodynamics and how F1 cars are made. They’ll also build their own cars and race.

Physical education and sports

A positive physical education programme allows children to succeed in school and life. It empowers them with knowledge, values, skills and personal qualities. That’s why we place great emphasis on PE lessons.

Lessons are delivered by specialist, fully qualified PE staff or watersports instructors.

Our music department is exceptional

While we aspire for the highest possible standards of performance, we also teach our students how to enjoy and make music together.

We follow the English music curriculum closely, while ensuring the programme also incorporates the musical culture and traditions of the UAE, including Khalili Arabic and Bedouin Folk music.

Our year 7 and 8 students study a range of musical techniques including composition, rhythmic and pitch notation, vocal performance and instrument skills.

To inspire the next generation of musicians and prepare students who choose to take the GCSE Music Exam academic year 2018/19, Year 9, students will be:

  • Engaging in a range of Set Works to nurture in-depth musical understanding
  • Listening to a wide range of music to build transferable appraisal skills
  • Studying the GCSE music anthology, sheet music and audio
  • Performing and composing their own music and music to a brief
  • Accessing clear assessment grids in order to self and peer assess with accuracy

Amity has an extensive library

Our students visit the library at least once a week. During this time, they’re introduced to Information Literacy Skills. For our younger students, the lesson ends with a trip into the library’s special world of imagination, where they can listen to stories by world-class children’s authors. Older students can also pop in to the library throughout the week to exchange books.

encourage students to become actively involved in the running of the library with these exciting initiatives.

The libraries are open to the school community during the day.
